Seven Terrorists Eliminated
“Within a few minutes, five, six or seven people are killed. The protocol says: seven terrorists eliminated. But no, it’s just seven people who crossed an intersection.”
That is an Israeli reservist, describing to the German magazine Der Spiegel a procedure his unit used again and again in Gaza. Troops hide in a non-evacuated area; anyone who approaches is shelled; the people who come to help are shot too; and the dead are entered into the record as terrorists. It is a knowledge-control story of the starkest kind — the official count of “terrorists killed,” the number used to justify a war, falsified at the moment of death. We grade the testimony carefully, carry the army’s denial, and keep the fences bright.
What this page is about
In October 2026, Der Spiegel published an investigation built on the testimony of roughly ten Israeli soldiers who served in Gaza. One reservist, who spent about 250 days there with the 252nd Division, described a procedure his unit used repeatedly, which he called “Alman Kasch” — the Hebrew for “straw widow.” A unit takes up a concealed position in an area that has not been evacuated, usually to gather information. When Palestinians who have no idea soldiers are there approach, they are shelled. The people who come to help the wounded are shot as well. “Within a few minutes, five, six or seven people are killed,” he said. And then the record is written: “The protocol says: seven terrorists eliminated.”
The reservist was blunt about the language and the arithmetic. “We do not kill, we eliminate. That’s how we’ve always phrased it.” He said his brigade killed 160 to 170 people over more than eighty days in the Netzarim corridor — the strip that cuts Gaza in two — a place where, he said, “there was no fighting, no attacks by Hamas.” Only one of those killed, he said, was even suspected of carrying a weapon. “All of these dead were reported as terrorists.” His was one account among ten; Der Spiegel’s soldiers described, collectively, troops killing Palestinian civilians and recording them as terrorists, and the reporting was corroborated in the English-language press by Middle East Eye and Common Dreams.
This belongs on Black Book Audit because it is the purest form of the thing this site exists to document: the record itself being manufactured. If civilians are entered into the ledger as terrorists at the moment they are killed, then the official tally of “terrorists eliminated” — the number governments and media cite to measure the war — is corrupted at the source. We grade the Der Spiegel investigation and its sourcing as fact; we grade the procedure and the falsified logging as serious, multiply-sourced testimony, PROBABLY TRUE but not an adjudicated finding; we carry the Israeli military’s response; and we hold the fences that keep this honest rather than a blanket indictment.

Seven Terrorists Eliminated.
'Within a few minutes, five, six or seven people are killed. The protocol says: seven terrorists eliminated. But no, it's just seven people who crossed an intersection.' — an Israeli reservist to Der Spiegel.
The procedure, the logging, and the fence
The “straw widow” ambush, the dead recorded as terrorists, the ten-source weight, what it does to the count, the army’s answer, and the pattern it joins.
The procedure: the 'straw widow.'
FACTDer Spiegel reported, on the testimony of an Israeli reservist, a procedure his unit used repeatedly that he called 'Alman Kasch' — Hebrew for 'straw widow.' A unit takes up a concealed position in an area that has not been evacuated; when Palestinians who do not know soldiers are there approach, they are shelled; others who come to help the wounded are shot too. 'Within a few minutes, five, six or seven people are killed.' That this is the reported testimony — and the exact procedure described — is not in dispute. Graded FACT on the reporting.
“We do not kill, we eliminate. That's how we've always phrased it.”
The record falsified at the source: logged as terrorists.
PROBABLY TRUEThe heart of the story is the paperwork. The reservist said the people killed in these ambushes were entered into the record as terrorists regardless of who they were: 'The protocol says: seven terrorists eliminated. But no, it's just seven people who crossed an intersection.' He said his brigade killed 160 to 170 people over more than eighty days in the Netzarim corridor, where 'there was no fighting, no attacks by Hamas,' that only one of the dead was even suspected of carrying a weapon, and that 'all of these dead were reported as terrorists.' This is first-hand testimony from a soldier describing his own unit's record-keeping, published by the paper of record in Germany and corroborated by other outlets — serious and specific, but testimony rather than an adjudicated finding. Graded PROBABLY TRUE.
Not one soldier: a ten-source investigation.
FACTThe viral screenshot quotes one reservist, which can read as a lone, unverifiable voice. The underlying investigation is broader: Der Spiegel built its account on the testimony of roughly ten Israeli military personnel, who described, collectively, troops killing Palestinian civilians in Gaza and recording them as terrorists. It does not stand alone, either. Middle East Eye and Common Dreams reported the same investigation in English, and it sits alongside earlier soldier testimony — including the 'kill zone' accounts gathered by the Israeli group Breaking the Silence and reported in Haaretz — describing the same arbitrary-fire logic in the Netzarim corridor. The weight of sourcing is the point. Graded FACT on the number and corroboration of the accounts.
What it does to the count.
PROBABLY TRUEHere is why this is a knowledge-control story and not only a war-crimes one. Governments and media measure the Gaza war in part by the ratio of 'terrorists' to civilians killed, and official Israeli statements have leaned on high counts of militants 'eliminated.' If, as these soldiers testify, civilians killed in ambushes are entered into the record as terrorists at the moment of death, then that official count is corrupted at its source — the raw data is falsified before it ever becomes a statistic or a press release. We grade it PROBABLY TRUE that this falsification occurred in the units these soldiers describe; we do not assert, and cannot, the scale of it across the whole war. But the mechanism — kill, then classify the dead as the enemy — is exactly how a casualty record is manufactured, and it is why the 'terrorists eliminated' figure deserves the scrutiny this page gives it.
The army's answer, and the fence.
SOME SMOKEWe carry the other side plainly. The Israeli military rejects the characterization of a policy of killing civilians: it says its forces operate under rules of engagement, that it targets combatants and not civilians, and that specific allegations of wrongdoing are referred for investigation by its own mechanisms. That position belongs on the page, and so does the limit of what the testimony proves. These are the accounts of roughly ten soldiers about their own units; they are serious and multiply reported, but they are not a court finding, and they do not by themselves establish a written, army-wide order to murder civilians. We therefore grade the strongest version — that this was uniform, top-down IDF policy across all of Gaza — as SOME SMOKE and pose it as the open question it is, while grading the specific procedure and logging these soldiers describe as PROBABLY TRUE above. The documented harm is to the integrity of the record; the full scope is unproven.
The pattern it joins.
FACTThis is not an isolated page. It is the ground-level version of a mechanism this site has documented from several angles. Our investigation of the Nasser Hospital strike — 'First They Kill. Then They Find a Reason.' — traced retroactive incrimination, where a justification is assembled after the killing; this is the same logic at the scale of an intersection. The atrocity-claims audit graded how the Gaza narrative is inflated at the top; this shows it being falsified at the bottom. The Hannibal Directive page documented Israeli deaths quietly removed from the October 7 account. Read together, they describe one thing: a war whose record is curated from both ends — the inconvenient truths buried, and the convenient ones, like a civilian who becomes a 'terrorist' the instant he is shot, manufactured. Graded FACT that this page belongs to that documented pattern.
A word that does the killing twice
“We do not kill, we eliminate” is not just a euphemism; it is an accounting entry. The language converts a person into a target retroactively, and the conversion is what lets the killing be recorded as something other than what it was. That is why this sits in Who Controls What You Get to Know and not only in a war-crimes file: the deepest damage described here is to the truth. When the dead are catalogued as the enemy at the moment they fall, every downstream number — the briefings, the ratios, the justifications — inherits the lie. The soldiers who came forward are, in effect, correcting the record their own army wrote. We hold the fences — it is testimony, not a verdict; it is their units, not every unit; Hamas’s own crimes are not erased — precisely so that the part that is documented lands with full weight: a procedure, described by those who carried it out, for turning civilians into “terrorists” on paper.
Questions worth taking seriously
Isn't this just one anonymous soldier's story?
No. The viral screenshot quotes one reservist, but Der Spiegel’s investigation rests on roughly ten soldiers’ testimony, and Middle East Eye and Common Dreams reported it independently. It also echoes earlier accounts — Breaking the Silence’s “kill zone” testimonies in the Netzarim corridor. It’s testimony, not a court finding, so we grade it PROBABLY TRUE and carry the IDF’s denial — but it’s a multiply-sourced investigation by a major outlet, not a lone voice.
Are you saying the whole Gaza casualty count is fake?
No — and we’re careful here. What these soldiers describe is civilians in their units’ ambushes being logged as terrorists, which corrupts the “terrorists eliminated” figure at its source in the places they served. We grade that PROBABLY TRUE. We do not and cannot assert the scale of it across the entire war, so we don’t claim “the whole count is fake.” The point is narrower and still serious: the raw data behind the official militant-death figures is, by the testimony of soldiers who produced it, not trustworthy.
Does this excuse Hamas or October 7?
No. Hamas’s deliberate killing of civilians on October 7 and its taking of hostages were war crimes, and nothing on this page softens that — we say so explicitly. Documenting how one side falsified its casualty record does not balance a ledger against the other side’s crimes; both are judged by the same rules. This page is about a specific, documented thing: a procedure, described by the soldiers who used it, for recording dead civilians as terrorists.
