The oldest lies.
This site criticizes the Israeli government's conduct where the record supports it. That is exactly why this hub exists: we debunk the antisemitic canards — the lies about Jews as a people — with the same discipline we bring to everything else. Criticizing a state is not bigotry. The bigoted lies are lies regardless. Both things are true, and holding both is the whole point.
What this hub is about
Antisemitism is sometimes called the oldest hatred, and its lies are among the oldest lies: the ritual-murder accusation, the forged master plan, the inverted court case. They survive because they are built well — each one wraps a false, poisonous conclusion around a small, real kernel so that debunking the whole thing feels like denying a fact. This hub takes them apart the way we take apart everything else: we grade the kernel honestly, then document the construction built on top of it, and we name the lie as a lie. We do this openly because we criticize the Israeli state elsewhere on this site — the credibility of real criticism depends on refusing the fake kind.
The canards, each a self-contained, graded investigation:
- The inverted court case. The Leo Frank Inversion — the meme that “the ADL was founded to protect a child-killer” flips a documented antisemitic hate crime (the lynching of a likely-innocent man) into a story where Jews organized to shield a murderer. We grade the kernels and refuse the inversion.
- The forged master plan. The Protocols Forgery — The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the “Jewish plan for world domination,” is a proven forgery plagiarized from a French satire that had nothing to do with Jews, exposed in print in 1921 and still in circulation.
- The ritual-murder accusation. The Blood Libel — the medieval lie that Jews murder Christian children for their blood, which killed thousands over eight centuries, was condemned as baseless by popes, is contradicted by Jewish law itself, and survives today in new costumes.
OPENThe money-and-media canards — “Jews control the banks,” “Jews control Hollywood/the media,” the Rothschild world-control myth — graded the same way, separating the real history of specific firms and people from the cabal construction. A thread we already touch in The Business of the Boyne.
OPENThe modern mutations: “cultural Marxism” and the “Great Replacement,” which repackage the old plan-for-domination canard in contemporary language; and the QAnon “adrenochrome” myth, a direct descendant of the blood libel.
OPENThe line that matters most, and that we keep sharp on every page: where legitimate criticism of the Israeli government ends and the antisemitic canard begins — and why the people who blur that line on purpose damage both causes.
This is a living record, and our readers make it stronger. If there is a thread here you want us to chase, or you have documents or firsthand knowledge that would sharpen a claim, send it to us. We read every lead.
The method, and the line we hold
A good canard is never pure invention; that would be too easy to refute. It is a real fact with a false frame nailed to it. Leo Frank really was a Jewish man convicted in 1913; the lie is that he was guilty and that the ADL exists to protect child-killers. The Protocols really is a book that really circulated; the lie is that it describes a real plan rather than a plagiarized forgery. Jews really have worked in banking and film; the lie is the leap from “some individuals” to “a people secretly controls everything.” Our method is to pull the two apart on every page: grade the kernel of fact exactly, then show the construction built on top of it, and refuse to let the one launder the other.
- Criticizing a state is not hating a people. We document the Israeli government's conduct, its lobby's influence, and its surveillance industry where the record supports it — the same lens we put on the American government and any other. That is politics, and it is fair game. The antisemitic canard is a different thing entirely: a claim about Jews as a people. We keep the two apart on purpose, and we reject anyone who collapses them — in either direction.
- The cabal frame is always the tell. The moment an argument moves from “this company,” “this official,” or “this government” to “this people secretly controls the world,” it has stopped being analysis and become the oldest lie. Named subjects and citations are journalism; a hidden race-wide plot is a canard.
- Debunking is not defending power. Refusing an antisemitic lie does not require pretending any particular government, company, or person is innocent. We can say the Leo Frank meme is a bigoted inversion and hold any real wrongdoing to account. Truth doesn't force us to pick a tribe; it forces us to be exact.
The canards, graded
Each is a self-contained investigation: the kernel of fact graded honestly, the false construction documented, the lie named. Read any one on its own.
The Leo Frank Inversion
Flagship debunk in The Oldest Lies, via grade-the-kernel / reject-the-construction. KERNELS (FACT): Leo Frank, a Jewish factory superintendent in Atlanta, was convicted in 1913 of murdering 13-year-old Mary Phagan; the ADL was founded in 1913 (by Chicago attorney Sigmund Livingston under B'nai B'rith); and Frank's defense implicated Jim Conley, the factory's Black janitor. CONSTRUCTION (FALSE/MISLEADING): the claim that Frank was a guilty 'pedophile who raped and killed' states as settled fact a conviction the historical mainstream regards as an antisemitism-driven miscarriage — the charge was murder, not a sex crime, and in 1982 Alonzo Mann, Frank's office boy, swore he saw Conley carrying Phagan's body alone and was threatened into silence; the claim that 'the ADL was founded to protect him' is false (it was founded to combat antisemitism broadly, did not run his defense, and only decades later helped win his 1986 posthumous pardon); the claim that the defense 'blamed a Black guy' as racist deflection inverts the record (Conley was the prosecution's own star witness and the evidence points to him as the killer); and 'even the KKK didn't believe it' is a grotesque inversion — Frank was lynched by a mob in 1915 (the 'Knights of Mary Phagan'), and the modern Ku Klux Klan was revived out of that lynching at Stone Mountain months later. HONEST CAVEAT (FACT): Frank was never formally exonerated — the 1986 pardon pointedly did not rule on guilt but on the state's failure to protect him from lynching — and a small revisionist fringe still argues he was guilty; against that sits the overwhelming scholarly consensus that an innocent man was railroaded and lynched for being a Jew. NOT ASSERTED: that a court has proven Conley guilty (he was never retried); we report the weight of evidence points to him. The deepest question: if the Klan's own forerunners dragged Frank from prison and hanged him, how did the meme arrive at 'even the KKK didn't believe it' — and who benefits from the inversion?
The Protocols Forgery
A debunk in The Oldest Lies. The Protocols of the Elders of Zion presents itself as minutes of a secret Jewish council plotting world domination; it is a fabrication — one of the best-documented forgeries in the history of propaganda. FACT: long passages were plagiarized, sometimes almost verbatim, from Maurice Joly's 1864 French satire 'The Dialogue in Hell Between Machiavelli and Montesquieu,' a book attacking Emperor Napoleon III that said nothing about Jews, plus material from Hermann Goedsche's 1868 novel. FACT: it emerged from the Tsarist secret-police (Okhrana) milieu around 1903 (Krushevan's newspaper) and was popularized in a 1905 edition by the mystic Sergei Nilus, as a tool to scapegoat Jews for Russia's unrest and justify pogroms; the exact forger is debated, the origin is not. FACT: it was publicly exposed as plagiarism by The Times of London correspondent Philip Graves in August 1921 (printing the two texts side by side), and ruled a forgery and plagiarism by a Bern, Switzerland court in 1935. FACT: Henry Ford funded the distribution of roughly 500,000 copies in the 1920s and ran 'The International Jew' in his Dearborn Independent before issuing a public retraction and apology in 1927; the Nazis made it central propaganda. FALSE/MISLEADING: the 'fake but accurate / it predicted things' defense that keeps the hoax alive — a document cribbed from a satire about Napoleon III is not evidence of any Jewish plan, and no such council or plan ever existed. The Protocols is the original 'secret plan' document, whose architecture is reused by modern 'globalist,' 'New World Order,' 'cultural Marxism,' and 'Great Replacement' theories. The hardest question: if a 'Jewish master plan' had to be plagiarized from a French satire, what does that tell you about whether the plan was ever real?
The Blood Libel
A debunk in The Oldest Lies. The blood libel is the false accusation that Jews ritually murder non-Jews, especially children, to use their blood (often said to be for matzah). FALSE/MISLEADING: the core accusation has no factual basis — there has never been credible evidence that such killings occurred, and every 'confession' was extracted under torture; historians and every major scholarly and religious authority treat it as a fabricated myth. FACT: it originated in medieval England with the 1144 death of William of Norwich, blamed on local Jews by the monk Thomas of Monmouth, and spread across Europe for eight centuries (the 1255 'Little Saint Hugh' of Lincoln case led to 19 Jews executed). FACT: it is contradicted by Jewish law itself — kashrut forbids consuming blood in any form (kosher slaughter drains it; an egg with a blood spot is discarded), so the idea of a Jewish blood ritual inverts one of Judaism's clearest prohibitions. FACT: medieval popes, including Innocent IV in the 13th century, condemned the ritual-murder charge as baseless — and were ignored. FACT: it killed for centuries — Simon of Trent (1475), the Damascus affair (1840), the Beilis show trial in Kyiv (1911–13, acquittal after worldwide outcry), and the 1946 Kielce pogrom, in which a blood-libel rumor helped trigger the murder of dozens of Jewish Holocaust survivors; Nazi propaganda (Der Stürmer) revived its imagery. PROBABLY TRUE (interpretive, fenced): the modern conspiracy theories of a secret elite harvesting children's blood — QAnon 'adrenochrome,' Pizzagate — are structural descendants, reproducing the libel's hidden-group/children/blood/secret-ritual architecture, a link scholars of antisemitism repeatedly draw; graded PROBABLY TRUE because 'descended from' is a historical interpretation, not a dated document. NOT ASSERTED: that the children weren't real — many died; their deaths were exploited, not invented. The hardest question: if a religion forbids consuming any blood and its own era's popes called the charge false, how did the libel survive — and what does that say about how lies actually die, or don't?
Questions worth taking seriously
You criticize Israel constantly. Isn't a hub debunking antisemitism just cover for that?
No — it's the opposite of cover; it's the standard that makes the criticism legitimate. Criticizing a government's policies is ordinary politics, and we do it to the United States too. Antisemitism is hatred of Jews as a people, which is a lie and an evil, and we refuse it. Those are two different things, and we're careful to keep them apart precisely so that neither contaminates the other. A critic who won't debunk the blood libel has no standing to be believed on anything about Jews; a “debunker” who won't let any government be criticized isn't honest either. We do both, on purpose.
Aren't some of these 'canards' partly true? They always seem to start with a real fact.
They start with a real fact — that's exactly what makes them effective, and exactly what we isolate. Leo Frank really was convicted; the Protocols really circulated; individual Jewish people really have worked in finance and film. The canard is the false leap from the kernel to the conclusion: that Frank was guilty and Jews protect child-killers; that the Protocols describes a real plan rather than a forgery; that a few individuals prove a people controls everything. We grade the kernel honestly — never pretending a true thing is false — and then we show the construction is a lie. The whole method is refusing to let a real fact smuggle a false conclusion past you.
Who decides what counts as a canard versus legitimate criticism?
The subject decides it. Criticism names a government, a company, an official, a policy, a documented act — things you can cite, sue over, or vote against. A canard makes a claim about a people: a race or religion as a secret, unified actor controlling events. “The Israeli government surveils Palestinians” is a factual claim about a state you can check. “The Jews control the world” is a claim about a people that is false by construction. The test isn't the target's nationality or religion; it's whether the claim is about identifiable actors and their acts, or about a people and their imagined essence.
