VoteSafe.org markets itself as a helpful place to confirm you're registered and ready to vote — the kind of civic-minded service you'd expect from a nonpartisan group like the real Vote.org. It is not that. The site is funded and operated by America PAC, the super PAC Elon Musk created to back Donald Trump, and the “check your registration” feature is the front end of a data-collection operation. What you hand over — name, birthdate, home address, contacts, location, party, and your clicks on the site — flows to a partisan political machine, not an election authority.
This isn't a first attempt. In 2024, America PAC spent roughly $800,000 on digital ads pushing a similar voter-registration site, and in some battleground states users reported entering their information and never being directed to actually register — the data went to the PAC. Musk is running the playbook again ahead of the 2026 midterms. This page grades what's documented, marks where the viral framing overshoots (“stealing,” “fake”), and carries the PAC's defense.

The front, the haul, and the precedent
VoteSafe.org is funded and operated by Elon Musk's America PAC — not a government or nonpartisan election authority.
FACTSnopes and multiple outlets confirm VoteSafe.org is funded by America PAC, the super PAC Elon Musk created to support Donald Trump's 2024 campaign. It is not run by the government, not affiliated with any state election office, and not a nonpartisan civic group. A voter using it to 'check their registration' is handing their information to a partisan political committee, whether or not they realize it.
It's dressed up as a neutral voter-safety tool — and that impression is the misleading part.
FALSE / MISLEADINGThis is the graded verdict. The reality is a partisan super PAC's data operation. What it collects is a full profile — and the privacy policy lets America PAC share and sell it.
FACTPer the site's own privacy policy and reporting on it, VoteSafe gathers a deep profile: full name, date of birth, home address, email, cell number, IP address, precise location, device and browser data, voter-registration status, district and ballot information, party affiliation, political interests — and behavioral data down to every page viewed and link clicked. The policy allows America PAC to share or sell that information to business partners and advertising firms, and to sell inferences about users' behavior and predispositions. It is a micro-targeting dossier collected under the banner of helping you vote.
It repeats a documented 2024 operation — where some users' data was taken but they were never registered.

In some of those states, users reported that the supposed registration site collected their information without ever referring them to actually register to vote — the data went to America PAC's servers. Musk is running the same playbook again for the 2026 midterms, which is what makes the pattern, not just the site, the story.
The honest limit: this is deceptive and legal, not 'stealing' or a crime.
PROBABLY TRUEWe won't launder the overreach. Headlines calling it a 'fake' site that 'steals' data go too far: the information is entered voluntarily by users, under a disclosed (if buried) privacy policy, and a super PAC running voter-contact and data operations is legal. America PAC can fairly argue it does help some people check their registration and that its data terms are posted. The defensible charge isn't theft — it's that a partisan data-harvesting-and-micro-targeting operation is dressed as a neutral civic service, which is deceptive even where it's lawful. That distinction is the whole point of grading it carefully.
Misleading, precisely

- “Misleading” is the right verdict; “theft” is not. The site doesn't hack anyone or claim to be the government. Its deception is in the framing — a partisan data operation wearing the costume of a nonpartisan voter service. - The 2024 precedent is what elevates it. A single data-harvesting site is a privacy story. A pattern — run in 2024, then re-run for 2026, with users in battleground states reportedly not actually getting registered — is an election-integrity story, which is why it belongs in this hub.
The real threat to the vote isn't coming from voters
The premise of The Real Voter Fraud is that in-person voter fraud is extremely rare, while the actual manipulation of the electoral process comes from the top: restriction, inducement, and now data. VoteSafe is the newest example — a billionaire's super PAC building targeting profiles on voters under the guise of helping them, in states that decide elections. The people warning loudest about “election integrity” are the ones running the operations that actually degrade it.

Is VoteSafe actually illegal?
Not that we can show, and we don't claim otherwise. Users enter their data voluntarily, the privacy policy discloses the practices, and a super PAC doing voter contact and data collection is legal. The problem is deception, not criminality: a partisan targeting operation dressed as a neutral voter-safety service. That's why we grade the impression as misleading rather than calling it a crime.
If it's legal, why put it in a 'voter fraud' hub?
Because the hub isn't about the rare crime of individual voter fraud — it's about what's actually being done to the vote, most of it perfectly legal: restriction, inducement, and data operations. A super PAC harvesting targeting data under a fake-neutral banner, in the states that decide elections, is exactly that: a documented manipulation of the electoral process by the powerful, which is the pattern the hub exists to track.
