Robert Kraft says he has spent “decades” supporting the Palestinian people. His charity’s tax filings tell a lopsided story: hundreds of thousands to Friends of the IDF and Israeli military causes, a $20 million anti-BDS foundation, and $3 million to AIPAC’s super PAC. Benjamin Netanyahu put it plainly: “Israel does not have a more loyal friend than Robert Kraft.”
The donations are graded FACT — they’re in the filings. Whether his “I help Palestinians” framing squares with that record is the judgment call, graded PROBABLY TRUE as a documented mismatch. This is a story about a gap between words and money — not about a Jewish American’s right to fund Israeli causes, which is his to exercise.

In September 2026, after Patriots owner Robert Kraft pressured Ed Sheeran to drop the rapper Macklemore from his tour over “Free Palestine” remarks, Macklemore challenged Kraft to match a $1 million donation. Kraft responded by pledging $2 million “to aid in the region” and posting a statement that “for decades” he has “supported efforts that create opportunity for Palestinians” — building businesses, creating jobs, and forging relationships between Israelis and Palestinians. He named no recipient for the $2 million. Some of that record is real: Kraft has backed genuine coexistence groups, including Seeds of Peace and a $1 million leadership gift to Our Generation Speaks, which works toward a “peaceful Israeli-Palestinian future.”
But The Intercept’s analysis of the Kraft Family Foundation’s tax filings since 2006 shows where the money mostly went, and it is not even. The foundation gave $196,000 to Friends of the IDF — seven donations earmarked to “promote education for young Jewish soldiers” — and another $123,000 to Brothers for Life and Friends of Israel Disabled Veterans, groups that benefit Israeli military personnel. It gave $63,500 to the pro-Israel media watchdog CAMERA, $50,000 to the Investigative Project on Terrorism, and $150,000 to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI). In 2019 Kraft pledged $20 million to found the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism (now the Blue Square Alliance Against Hate), promising to fight the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. And through his company, the Kraft Group, he has given $3 million to AIPAC’s super PAC since 2022.
Two things need to be said clearly. First, funding Friends of the IDF or AIPAC is entirely legal, and a Jewish American supporting Israel is exercising a right, not committing a wrong; this page is not about Kraft’s identity or his loyalties. Second, Friends of the IDF funds the welfare of soldiers — education, health, the “lone soldier” program — not weapons; we say so precisely. The story here is narrower and it is about honesty: a man publicly casting himself as a decades-long friend of the Palestinians, at a moment designed to blunt criticism, whose own filings show a giving record overwhelmingly directed at the Israeli military, pro-Israel advocacy, and the lobby’s political machine.
We grade the individual donations FACT — they are in the public record. We grade the mismatch between the “I help Palestinians” framing and that record PROBABLY TRUE: it is a strong, documented gap, tempered only by the coexistence gifts that are also real. What we do not do is pretend the coexistence giving doesn’t exist, or convert a hypocrisy story into an ugly one about where a philanthropist’s deepest allegiance lies. The filings make the point without any of that.
We are not claiming there is anything wrong, disloyal, or suspicious about a Jewish American funding Israel, the Israeli military’s soldiers, or pro-Israel advocacy. It is legal, common, and his right. This page carries no dual-loyalty implication and draws no inference from Kraft’s religion or background — the subject is the gap between a public claim and a public filing, nothing more.
We are not saying Kraft has done nothing for Palestinians — he has funded real coexistence work, and we credit it. We are not saying Friends of the IDF buys weapons; it funds soldier welfare, and we describe it that way. And the characterizations of CAMERA, the Investigative Project on Terrorism, and MEMRI as Islamophobic or as pressure operations are attributed to their critics (CAIR, journalists, scholars), not asserted by us as fact.

In September 2026 Kraft pressured Ed Sheeran to drop Macklemore from his U.S. stadium tour over Macklemore's on-stage 'Free Palestine' calls; Sheeran did, and every other opening act plus his backing band (Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe, Beoga) quit in solidarity. Crucially, Macklemore's remarks were not antisemitic: he condemned the war and apartheid and told 'my Jewish brothers and sisters, criticism of Israel, criticism of apartheid, being against genocide in no way is a criticism of you.' One precision that matters, because it corrects a common misfire: Kraft did NOT ignore real antisemitism — his Foundation to Combat Antisemitism launched its first national TV ad in October 2022 specifically in response to Kanye West's antisemitism. That's exactly why the accurate charge here is conflation, not hypocrisy about Kanye: the same apparatus that rightly named Kanye's anti-Jewish hate also moves to silence Macklemore's explicitly non-antisemitic Palestine solidarity — collapsing the line between hatred of Jews and criticism of a state.

Kraft presents himself — especially in a PR moment engineered to deflect a 'Free Palestine' controversy — as a decades-long friend of the Palestinians. His public filings show a giving record overwhelmingly aimed the other way: the Israeli military's soldiers, a $20 million anti-BDS foundation, pro-Israel advocacy groups, and $3 million to the lobby's super PAC that works to unseat Israel's critics. The coexistence gifts (Seeds of Peace; Our Generation Speaks) are real and we count them — but they are the smaller, quieter part of a portfolio whose center of gravity is unmistakably pro-Israel, and the headline $2 million 'for the region' came with no named recipient at all. The honest verdict: the record doesn't match the framing.

The image: a bridge-builder. Kraft’s statement frames his giving as decades of opportunity for Palestinians and dialogue between the two peoples — the language of a neutral peacemaker, offered precisely when a boycott controversy put his name in a bad light.
The ledger: a partisan. The single largest and most consistent theme of the documented giving is support for Israel and its military, its advocacy apparatus, and its lobby — capped by a $20 million foundation whose founding mission included defeating the Palestinian rights movement, and $3 million to a super PAC that spends to end the careers of American politicians who criticize Israel. The man Netanyahu called Israel’s “more loyal friend” is not a neutral party to the conflict, and his checkbook says so.
The honest bridge: both columns are real. Kraft has funded coexistence and he has funded the IDF’s soldiers and the lobby that polices Israel’s critics; a person can do both. The problem is only the framing — presenting the smaller, softer half of the ledger as the whole of it, in a moment built to deflect. We don’t need to know what’s in his heart to see that the public claim and the public filings point in different directions.
Reputation is the last thing money buys.
This belongs in Israeli Influence because it shows how the same fortune operates on several levels at once: funding soldiers, funding the advocacy groups that shape how the conflict is covered, and funding the super PAC that decides which American politicians survive a vote on Israel — all while the public face is a friend to both sides. The coexistence branding isn’t a lie so much as a softening agent: it makes the harder spending easier to wave through, and it buys the benefit of the doubt when a “Free Palestine” row threatens the brand. And it isn’t only money: when Macklemore called to free Palestine, Kraft used his leverage to get the artist dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour — the same instinct that funds the lobby, applied to the stage, and defended under the banner of “fighting hate,” against speech that named no hatred at all.
