He Predicted His Own “Suicide.”
John Barnett spent 32 years inspecting Boeing planes and seven more fighting the company over 787 safety defects. He died mid-deposition — ruled a suicide. He had said, on the record, that if anything happened to him, it wouldn't be.
FACT
§2 · Thesis
The suicide ruling is the record and the murder claim is unproven — but the provable, damning core needs no death: Boeing retaliated against Barnett, and the whistleblower was right about the planes.
The timing is unsettling. The retaliation is documented. We keep those exactly where the record puts them.
On the record
“No, I ain't scared — but if anything happens to me, it's not suicide.”
— John Barnett, to a family friend, as widely reported after his March 2024 death
FACT that he said it; an account of people close to him, not independently corroborated — and a premonition is not, by itself, evidence of murder.
§5 · Graded Claim
Barnett's death was officially ruled a suicide.
FACT
The Charleston County coroner ruled it a self-inflicted gunshot (March 11, 2024); the Charleston Police Department closed its investigation on May 17, 2024; reporting states a note in Barnett's own handwriting was found in the vehicle. A page that ignores this isn't investigating — it's advocating.
§5 · Graded Claim
Barnett predicted, on the record, that a 'suicide' would be staged — and even anticipated the exact framing.
FACT
A family friend recounted, and multiple outlets reported, that Barnett had said words to this effect. Graded FACT as to the statement having been made and reported. The limit, precisely: this is the account of people close to him, not something investigators independently corroborated.
§5 · Graded Claim
That Barnett was murdered / the suicide ruling is false.
SOME SMOKE
The anomalies are real — he died mid-deposition in a case that threatened Boeing, and he had predicted this exact outcome. But the physical evidence supports the ruling: his own vehicle, and a note in his own handwriting. No public evidence establishes homicide. 'Murdered' is unproven, and we will not assert it. The strongest thing the record supports is not murder — it's the retaliation.
§5 · Graded Claim
Boeing retaliated against Barnett, and his safety complaints were real — the provable core, and it needs no death to matter.
FACT
Barnett's AIR21 complaint alleged, and evidence substantiated, serious 787 safety defects; the FAA confirmed missing non-conforming parts; he was in active litigation alleging a Boeing retaliation campaign. Whatever the manner of his death, a major aerospace contractor was the defendant across the deposition table, and the whistleblower was right about the planes.
§7 · Why it matters now
Why it matters, and where it connects.
This is the Dangerous Knowledge hub's discipline in one case: the death that everyone wants to make a murder, held exactly at what the record supports — a documented suicide ruling, a genuinely unsettling prediction, and a corporate-retaliation case that is damning on its own. The provable story is the one that needs no conspiracy: a whistleblower was right about defects in the planes, and the company came after him for it.
