Sowing Division
The hub, restaged as a presenter deck: the pattern it keeps finding, the cases on the record, and the questions still open. The roster reads from the live index, so it stays current as investigations land. Open the full hub.
Sowing Division
A movement that fights itself cannot fight power. That is not an accident — it is the point of a documented tactic. For more than a century, federal, military, corporate, and now billionaire-private actors have worked to fracture American citizen movements and prevent solidarity across race, class, and ideology.
Some of the division you've felt in your own community was manufactured — and there is a paper trail showing who did it.
The panic is usually the easy fact to establish. The coordinating hand behind it is the harder claim — and the hub grades the two separately.
What this hub is, and is not.
- A working record of documented efforts to fracture citizen movements, graded case by case — not a claim that every social conflict is a plot.
- The manufactured panic and the hand behind it are graded separately: the panic is often provable, the coordination usually harder, and we present both tiers side by side.
- The private lane is newer and harder to grade: we mark documents FACT, patterns PROBABLY TRUE, and unproven intent SOME SMOKE — and don't resolve what the evidence doesn't.
When the state runs the tactic, it leaves a paper trail.
Congressional investigations, inspectors general, and court-ordered declassifications keep producing the state's own memos and budget lines describing efforts to fracture citizen movements. This lane is the record confessing to itself, in installments, under legal pressure.
Manufactured panic is a recurring vector, not a one-time event.
Across eras and targets, an amplified public panic serves the same function: it redirects public anger away from power and toward a chosen internal enemy. The panic is the easy fact; the coordinating hand is graded case by case.
The private lane is newer, better funded, and harder to grade.
The actors best positioned to fund division now sit outside government — private capital, family foundations, platform owners. Their trail runs through emails, wire transfers, and foundation filings, and the causal claim often stays SOME SMOKE.
pieces of Americans' mail secretly opened under the CIA's HTLINGUAL program (1952–1973) — one line item in a state surveillance architecture the government eventually confessed to under subpoena.
Church Committee / Rockefeller Commission
The template is COINTELPRO. The FBI mailed Martin Luther King a letter urging him to kill himself; forged letters between the Panthers and US Organization preceded the 1969 UCLA killings; and on December 4, 1969, police killed Fred Hampton in a raid using a floor plan an FBI informant supplied.
The unredacted King 'suicide letter' (released 2014), the Church Committee record on the fake-letter operation, and the documented Hampton raid. The Panther operations are the subject of their own hub.
The surveillance architecture the state confessed to.
- SHAMROCK — every international telegram, 1945–1975.
- MINARET — a watch list of Americans, 1967–1973.
- Operation CHAOS — files on 7,200 Americans, 1967–1974.
- The Custodial Detention Index — pre-sorting Americans for detention, 1939–1943; the Palmer Raids before it.
It only became public by accident and by subpoena: the March 8, 1971 break-in at the FBI's Media, Pennsylvania office exposed COINTELPRO, and the 1975 Church Committee forced its termination and the documentary record.
Betty Medsger's account of the Media break-in and the Church Committee's own reports.
The same panic, redrawn for each era.
- 1950s–60s — the Red Scare and 'subversive' media.
- 1970s–80s — the Cult Wars.
- 1980s–90s — the Satanic Panic.
- 1999–2000s — post-Columbine 'digital desensitization,' now the 'grooming' panic.
The current 'groomer' panic runs against the government's own data — the typical CSAM offender is a white U.S.-citizen male — while a documented run of the accusers, including two January 6 rioters Trump pardoned, were themselves convicted in child-abuse cases.
U.S. Sentencing Commission offender data and the individual criminal convictions are documents; the 'it's projection' verdict is graded separately (see the open threads).
The best-funded division campaigns now sit outside government: the Koch, DeVos, Mercer, and Bradley networks built the culture-war 'anti-woke' infrastructure, from critical-race-theory panic to model legislation.
Mother Jones's reporting on the funders behind the coordinated anti-CRT push.
The tactics went synthetic: the 2011 HBGary Federal leak exposed 'persona management' software for running fake online identities at scale; CENTCOM's Operation Earnest Voice bought sock-puppet armies; and Stanford's researchers documented a covert pro-U.S. influence network in 2022.
Ars Technica on the HBGary persona leak, The Guardian on Earnest Voice, and the Stanford Internet Observatory/Graphika report.
The private lane touches the same names as the rest of the Audit: DOJ-released records show a Nikolic–Epstein–Poole email chain the same day 4chan's /pol/ board launched (Oct 25, 2011), and an Epstein–Thiel 'Brexit, just the beginning' exchange in June 2016.
The emails are in the DOJ document release. The broader 'Epstein–Silicon Valley–right-wing network' as a coordinated whole is graded lower (PROBABLY_TRUE / SOME_SMOKE) and bridges to the-corporate-state and epstein-class.
The seam into the press is old and documented: Operation MOCKINGBIRD's confirmed core and the Church Committee's finding that the CIA cultivated hundreds of journalists — with modern echoes in a reporter who cleared drafts with the CIA press office and was promoted.
The Church Committee record on Mockingbird and CIA-media relationships, and The Intercept on the Ken Dilanian disclosures. Popular memory that outruns the record is flagged on the page as PROBABLY_TRUE.
Same tactic, old hand and new.
- Forged letters, watch lists, mail-opening, a suicide note to King.
- Exposed by a break-in and a Senate subpoena.
- The record confessing to itself, in installments.
- Billionaire culture-war infrastructure; persona-management sock puppets.
- Trails run through emails, wires, and foundation filings.
- Documents graded FACT, intent often still SOME SMOKE.
The record, case by case, across all three lanes. Each opens in a new tab.

Whether the 'groomer' accusers' own convictions amount to coordinated projection or a pattern of individuals is unproven.
The hub's verdict stays at SOME_SMOKE: the mirror is real for these accusers, but that is a pattern of individuals, not proof of a coordinated operation.
Help us fill it →Whether the Epstein–Silicon Valley–right-wing contacts form a coordinated network is unestablished.
The individual emails are documents (FACT); the network as an intentional whole is graded PROBABLY_TRUE / SOME_SMOKE, not established.
Help us fill it →How far the modern private persona-management and influence operations reach is undocumented.
HBGary, Earnest Voice, and Unheard Voice are documented instances; the full present-day scale is not on the public record.
Help us fill it →Why it matters now — and where it connects.
The tactic is a century old and the hand keeps changing — from J. Edgar Hoover's forgeries to a billionaire's foundation and a platform owner's inbox. The Panther operations are their own hub; Mockingbird runs into Media Ownership and CIA Crimes; the Epstein–Thiel–4chan node lands in The Corporate State and the Epstein Class. The through-line is constant: a citizenry set against itself cannot hold power to account.
Help us fill these lines.

- OpenWhether the Epstein–Silicon Valley–right-wing contacts form an intentional network.
