Cantor Fitzgerald chief and Commerce Secretary — and Jeffrey Epstein's next-door neighbor.

Howard Lutnick ran Cantor Fitzgerald through the 9/11 attack that killed 658 of its employees, and later became Commerce Secretary. His documented link to Jeffrey Epstein is a real-estate one: Lutnick's Upper East Side townhouse sat wall-to-wall with Epstein's, and Epstein played a role in the chain of transfers that ended with Lutnick buying it for a recorded $10. We carry the property record — and we are careful about what it does and doesn't show.

    The two Manhattan townhouses share a wall. Lutnick has owned 11 East 71st since 1998 (he hosted a 2015 Hillary Clinton fundraiser there); Epstein's 9 East 71st became central to the trafficking case.

  2. Epstein played a documented role in the transfers of Lutnick's townhouse before Lutnick bought it for a recorded $10.

    Per Crain's 2019 reporting and the recorded deeds: an Epstein-linked entity bought 11 East 71st in 1988; Epstein was listed as trustee during later transfers and granted his lawyer power of attorney over it in 1996; the Comet Trust then sold it to Lutnick in 1998 (recorded $10; transfer tax implies ~$7.6M; $4M mortgage). We do NOT claim Lutnick knew Epstein's role at the time, and mainstream reporting frames the tie as property-based, not a proven personal relationship.
