The Corporate State · Investigation · 2021–2026
The private dollar.
One offshore company prints a digital dollar bigger than most countries' money supply, banks the profits in US Treasuries, and spends them buying farmland, fertilizer, and media. It's called Tether.
FACT
§2 · Thesis
Issue a private dollar, hold the public's cash in government bonds, pocket the yield — then buy the real economy with it.
The size, the reserves, the penalties, and the acquisitions are FACT. Whether it's a plan to replace the public dollar is posed as a question, graded SOME SMOKE.
The number
~$115Bin US Treasuries
roughly 80% of Tether's reserves sit in US Treasury bills and repos — so it earns billions a year in interest on the public's dollars, and keeps it.
Stablecoin reserve trackers (2026)
§5 · Graded Claim
Tether runs the biggest private dollar — about $189 billion of it.
FACT
USDT had roughly $189B in circulation in 2026 and is the largest stablecoin, over half the market. Each token is supposed to be redeemable for one US dollar.
§5 · Graded Claim
US regulators fined it for misrepresenting whether the coins were backed.
FACT
The CFTC fined Tether $41M in 2021, finding that for long stretches the coins weren't fully backed as claimed; the same year Tether settled with the New York AG for $18.5M and was barred from New York.
§5 · Graded Claim
For years it showed 'attestations,' not a real audit — until 2026.
FACT
Tether long published quarterly attestations from BDO's Italian branch — snapshots, not full audits — and resisted a complete audit for years, obtaining its first Big Four audit (KPMG) only in 2026, which reported reserves above liabilities. We carry that; it also came late, and the buffer has at times been thin.
§5 · Graded Claim
It used the profits to take control of farmland and the region's biggest fertilizer maker.
FACT
Per SEC filings, Tether took ~70% control of the farmland/food company Adecoagro (tender offer closed Apr 25, 2025), which then bought Profertil — South America's largest granular-urea producer — for ~$1.1B, reaching 90%. The private-dollar issuer buying the physical food chain.
§7 · Why it matters now
A dollar with an owner.
The public dollar answers, however imperfectly, to voters; a private dollar answers to its owners. When one offshore company issues a currency this large and spends the yield on the food supply and the platforms people get their news from, the question isn't whether it's legal — it's who it serves. The Washington ties are in The Secretary and the Stablecoin; the origin is in Epstein's Crypto Guy.
